When do I start using my TENS machine?
It is best to use your TENS machine at the beginning of your labour, as it is believed that the longer the device is insitu, the more effective it will be at reducing pain and releasing your endorphins.
Endorphins are your body’s natural pain relievers. The TENS needs to be in place for at least to 30 minutes to build up your endorphins, so the earlier you have it on, the better your experience with TENS may be.
The earlier you have the TENS on, the more in control and relaxed you will feel, setting you up for a positive mindset.
